Hi, my name is Heather Hunsucker and I am the co-owner of Reel Deal Sportfishing - a private offshore fishing charter out of Clearwater Beach, Florida. Along with my husband Captain Steve Hunsucker, I own two offshore vessels REEL DEAL (a 34ft Delta) and REEL DEAL II (a 34ft Crusader) and one inshore vessel MISS TILLY (a 22ft Aquasport). We have been the owners of Reel Deal Sportfishing since April of 2015 and in 2017 we were named Small Business of the Year on Clearwater Beach.
So how did Reel Deal Outpost come to be? Well aside from being the business side of all things Reel Deal, I'm also a mom of two busy boys and after 8 1/2 years, I desperately needed to separate our business from the craziness of our home life. What started with a hunt for an office ended with finding a cute little store front on West Bay Drive in downtown Largo, Florida - our home in Florida for almost 20 years! The day I signed the lease I started the morning by attending a small business of downtown Largo meeting that happened to be less than a mile from the shop at Sage's Bistro. I was excited to meet some new people and also see some familiar friends I know from within the City of Largo that were happy to see me!
Reel Deal Outpost foremost is the brick & mortar and e-commerce store for Reel Deal fishing gear. We have a high-quality fishing apparel line of dry-fit shirts, cotton shirts, tanks, and hats that we sell on our fishing charters and online. The shop gives ease to quick shipping right from our store or we can offer local pick-up. We are also developing partnerships with local artists and small businesses and have started showcasing some of those items in the shop and in our online store. A goal for 2024 is to partner with other small businesses and have some pop-up sales in the shop.
Reel Deal Outpost also serves as location for Capt Steve's Tiktok Lives at @reeldealclearwater. He usually streams live heading in and out from his fishing charters, as well as when cleaning fish at the dock in Clearwater Marina. On non-fishing days, Steve has streamed live in the Outpost to showcase our products. He hopes to expand this into podcasts which we will film at the shop!
We were just accepted to be a vendor at downtown Clearwater's monthly market - The Market Marie at Coachman Park on February 10, 2024 and March 9, 2024 so we will be expanding our merchandise stock and making plans for that!
